The First Monthly Lupine
Awards for MMF
The following table lists the number of "Make Money Fast" chain letter
articles I have canceled at my site, news.msfc.nasa.gov, by article
header From address, for the month of January, 1997, ranked by number of
articles, and only listing the top 40. The numbers could vary
significantly from site to site; other people cancel these things as
well, and some sites do not honor cancels at all.
Please note that forged and/or mangled addresses are common.
I have decided to hand out some virtual (i.e., nonexistent) awards to the
top 3 MMFers for the month. I can't guarantee that I'll do this every
month, or even next month. I am calling them the Lupine awards, after a
Monty Python sketch (the one about a misguided Robin Hood--"Oh, no, not
more bloody lupines!"). The idea is that if EMP/ECP is Spam, then MMF's
might be analogous to lupines. I don't expect it to catch on. If there
are people who think that receiving the Lupine Award is a good thing,
I'll discontinue awarding them.
The Golden Lupine Award goes to <MAKEMONEY@COMPUSERVE.COM>, who was not a
Compuserve user.
The Silver Lupine goes to <GGYTGA@193.6.14.65>. (Hungary?)
The Bronze Lupine goes to <BUN@IMAGE.DK>.

There are 44640 minutes in January, so the Barnum Rate was a sucker every
20.9 minutes, and there were approximately 1.06 cancels issued per
minute.
